Settling in without Having to Settle

A few months ago I wrote an entry, titled ‘With 1st
pick in the 2013 Hotel draft, Shelter Suites and Hotels selects….’, which
discussed the importance of making a right choice in hiring a marquee employee.
What do you do after you’ve gotten the draft pick t you coveted? Do you just
hand the team to him/her and say ‘show me what you can do’?
It is important to let your guy or gal settle in and become
familiar with their new surrounding before lumping them with all of the things
you expect. Quite often we are quick to key in on the problems  and expect a new signing/coach to solve all
of your teams problems (I really need to stop with the sport analogies).   No
matter how good a coach is, he is limited by the ability of his team. Phil
Jackson wouldn’t be considered one of the greats if there was never a Michael
Jordan or a Kobe Bryant!
